I want to thank all who've kept posting on the Painted Bunting, AND the
gracious home-owners. It was my second try, and I was the second to arrive
on the scene this morning. The bird first appeared, thanks to the sharp
eyes of my fellow Howard Countian Nancy, at 7:45, when it perched in the
"holly" (is it really a holly?) for five minutes, then landed on the far
side of the feeder out of sight. It reappeared some time after 8:00, again
in the holly. An excellent state bird for me!
And we got a two-fer, scoring the White-winged Crossbill, which I managed to
first see last weekend. But my companion, not a birder, yet!, got THREE
lifers, also seeing a spectacularly performing Belted Kingfisher, while we
waited for the crossbill to RE-appear.
