Bill Young and I made three attempts to see the
White-winged Crossbill today.  Nobody saw the bird
between about 7 am and noon, which is when we broke
for lunch.  

As we arrived at the site for the third time at about
1:30 pm, we learned that the crossbill had just
arrived.  The hardy assembled were able to see it on
the thistle feeder, and as Jay Keller said, in the
trees.  

Even down in the valley of Sligo Creek it was windy!
