Eight birders joined me yesterday for a Montgomery Bird Club trip to
Black Hill Regional Park. We managed to find 44 species 'scoping the the
lake from the park HQ bldg, the boat ramp, the Rte 121 bridge, and the
Ten Mile Crk area. We also walked the trail that runs from the north
end of the 121 bridge along the lakeshore to the parking area just past
Ridge Oak Dr.
Windy conditions made for a tough day of birding. Waterfowl numbers and
variety seemed lower than I can remember in past Februarys. Best bird of
day was a Pine Warbler at the park HQ bldg feeders but unfortunately
only Ed Escalante and myself got to see it before it flew off and did
not return. Also had nice looks at a soaring Bald Eagle in the bright
sunshine.
Good birding,
Andy Martin
