While finishing supper tonight (Thursday), I happened to look beyond the 
feeders to the Chicken pen.  Sauntering about within the chicken fence was a 
male Ring-necked Pheasant.  Better than any dessert.

What is strange is that when I walked out of the house at 7:00 am this 
morning, I thought I heard the distinct call of a pheasant but I only heard 
it once.  I dismissed it because I had not seen any in the yard for at least 
3 years.  I guess I need to learn to trust my ears.

ps:  The partially leucistic Cow Bird in my yard has been replaced by a 
partially leucistic Cowbird, a bit tougher to find, but still there.
