Hi All,

I spent Saturday birding the Eastern Shore, it was a bit slow with the fog and rain but there were still some nice birds about, most interestingly at Assateague were the large numbers of Red-throated Loons flying North, with ~150 seen as I drove the ORV zone, as well as a couple decently sized loosely associated groups (7-10 individuals) sitting on the water. At the Salisbury landfill, I located among the mases of Herring, Great Black-backed, and Ring-billed Gulls, 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, and 1 Iceland/Kumliens Gull. From there I headed to Blackwater NWR where I located 2 Cackling (Richardson's) Geese in with the Canada's, and 5 of the American White Pelicans. Some of the highlights follow:

Assateague
Red-throated Loon ~150, ORV zone
Dunlin ~600 at Fox Hill Level ORV zone

Ocean City Inlet
Common Eider 2 young males

South Point-
Eurasian Collared Dove 1

Salisbury Landfill
Lesser Black-backed Gull 3 (2 first-cycle, 1 adult)
Iceland/Kumliens Gull 1 (first-cycle)

Blackwater NWR
Cackling (Richardson's) Goose 2
American White Pelican 5
