Hi all,

Birded the Potomac at Great Falls this morning for a short time. No action at the Eagle nest but the Herons were active at their rookery. There was a huge raft of Ring necked Ducks on the river up from the rapids. When they took off, the noise was termendous!
A brief list of what was seen:

  2 Black Vultures
  4 Turkey Vultures
  Ring necked Ducks 100's +
  8 Common Mergansers
  Buffleheads (several)
  8 Mallards
  Ring billed Gulls (several)
  Eastern Bluebirds
  American Robins
  2 Pileated Woodpeckers
  1 Hairy Woodpecker
  2 Downy Woodpeckers

A side note: I went to see the Trumpter Swan at Schoolhouse Pond in Upper Marlboro. What a magnificent bird!
