If you're heading up the BW Parkway, just North of the beltway there
is a pond on the left. Today as I was returning home I noticed a
sizable number of Northern Shovelers enjoying the area.

I drove around until I found a way to have a safe look (off Nursery
Road there is an office park that backs up to this pond/marsh area).
There I found close to 2 dozen shovelers doing there thing.

Also, I tried this AM for the Surf Scoter in the Halethorpe Ponds
BEFORE my morning meeting in Baltimore. No luck. It sure enough was
a messy walk to the ponds with all of the rain and mud, but just as
Stan described in last night's email: Hooded & Common Merganser, Bald
Eagle, DC Corms and gulls-a-plenty.

Good Birding,
