Youth and birding interviews must be popular in March's magazines. Jim
Wilson from Queenstown is currently featured in an article about birding in
Boys Life magazine, the mag for Boy Scouts. He is featured in a 6 page
spread that has a great picture of his magnificent thick, wavy hair (spoken
by a jealous bald father). Jim is a veteran of 6 World Series of Birding
Teams, captained the winning Leica youth birding team at the Great Texas
Birding Classic (212 species), is a veteran of Camp Chiracahua and two ABA
Junior Birder conventions, a 2nd place finisher of the ABA Youth Birding
competition, and a member of the Red Eyed Vireos at the CMBO.
Jim is now a Sophomore at the University of Maryland majoring in Resources
Management. He spent last summer working for the Student Conservation
Association building trails in the Tongass National Forest in Alaska.
On the negative side, he dipped on the White-winged Crossbill after several
attempts.
