I went on a walk with the family (and the dogs) around the
neighborhood. Windy? Yes. Colder than yesterday? Yup.

The good news is that Red-necked Grebe is still enjoying it's stay on
Weems Creek.

Further down the road on our walk, the resident Osprey is perched on a
piling on the Severn. Tucked in and holding steady, this fish hawk
appeared to be leaning in to the stiff winds pushing in from the
Northwest. The tides in on the Southern shores of the Severn were
being pushed in with the wind, nearly running over the many man-made
banks. Six Buffleheads were shuffling around against the current, as
were about two dozen DC Cormorants and some Ring Billed Gulls.

Aside from that, our neighborhood was filled with the regular array of
exotic birds: Robins, House Sparrows, House Finches, Cardinals, Blue
Jays, Crows, B & TVs, Mourning Doves and of course Grackles.

Time now for a late breakfast.

DIRECTIONS to WEEMS CREEK:

Take US 50 or 97 towards Annapolis. Take the Rowe Blvd (Heading East
towards downtown Annapolis) and make a LEFT at the first light (MELVIN AVENUE).

Continue to the next light and make another left. You will see the
smaller Weems Creek Bridge ahead at the bottom of the hill.
There is a pull off on the right BEFORE you get to the bridge.
The bird is on the North side of the bridge (towards the Severn River)
most of the time.
That's one spot to see the bird, but with traffic, it's a bit dangerous.

The second spot would be the boat ramp in West Annapolis.

For that, do everything I just said, but BEFORE the bridge there will
be a gas station on your right. Turn right immediately after the gas station.
Make your 2nd left and take that down to the culdesac and boat ramp on
the water.
That is our West Annapolis boat ramp.

Some of the neighbors came out to see the bird while I was there, so
they should be very hospitable.

Enjoy your Sunday,
