Hi all,

in light of some limited gas and lots of time yesterday afternoon, I spent a couple hours where the birds come to you; hawk-watching at Dan's Rock. There were a few nice birds around, and I managed to get a few decent shots of one of the sub-adult GOLDEN EAGLES as it kettled just in front of me for about 5 minutes before heading south. On the way home, I stopped at Piney Reservoir which had a pair of COMMON MERGANSERS among the other birds, and Little Meadows where the previously reported RED-THROATED LOON was still present. Totals for Dan's Rock are as follows

Dan's Rock ~2 hours
Golden Eagle 2 (2 sub-adult)
Bald Eagle 3 (1 ad., 2 sub-adult)
Black Vulture 9
Turkey Vulture 30
Red-tailed Hawk 6

Photos of the eagle and loon are at:

Good Birding!
