The six scaup seen from Greenbridge, between the boat ramp and the dam
should be considered scaup species. Participants on the trip noted
conflicting field marks (rounded head with peak forward of the eye vs. dirty
white sides on the males), and five Greater Scaup were seen earlier that
morning near the pipeline. The light was bad, dappled sunlight on the
waves, so I think in the interests of accuracy, they should be recorded as
species. The Greater Scaup sighting of this morning, however, is quite
credible.
