This is a late posting. Yesterday afternoon while at Hughes Hollow, I spoke
with Dan Eberly who told me that he had seen a Black-crowned Night-heron at
Riley's Lock, right at the picnic area. I headed there about 5:00 p.m. and the
heron was still there. It was in the picnic area (right of Seneca creek) in a
tree right on the riverbank. The bird was only about 10 feet up the tree.

This afternoon I decided to trek through Wooton's Mill Park in Rockville and
was quite surprised to see a pair of Wood ducks in the overgrown pond right
along a residential road. The ducks were trying to stay invisible but hardly had
a chance since most of the pond was merely muddy. They swam in a tight
circle hiding behind some twiggy shrubs but finally flew away to find a more
sheltered spot.

There was also a fox sparrow right in the apple tree where the Montgomery
County Site book said it would be.
