Hi all-
Yesterday I headed out to Pt Lookout with my canoe- hoping to take advantage
of temperatures in the sixties. I hiked all the regular places, Periwinkle
Trail (after getting the gate combo from the rangers), woods behind the old
fort, etc. Highlights off the water were EASTERN SCREECH-OWL (heard), many
PINE WARBLERS and BROWN-HEADED NUTHATCHES.
By canoe, I was ever happier to hear five CLAPPER RAILS in the marsh. Two of
them were by the shore, and I was able to photo them- my first Maryland rail
photographed (besides the ubiquitous Coots).
