This morning I led a field trip for the Frederick Bird Club. We started at Piney Run Park where waterfowl numbers continue to decline with the highlights being a molting male Long-tailed Duck, a first-winter Herring Gull, two Common Loons, and 8 Double-crested Cormorants. Phoebes and a Fox Sparrow were also seen.
Midday at Liberty Lake off Oakland Road produced my first Osprey of the year and two Red-necked Grebes along the far shore.
