With FeederWatch season winding down, and surprisingly good
diversity around our yard today (Laurel, PG county), I
thought I'd post my observations from day 1 of our last
2-day FeederWatch until the Fall. Highlights included a
flyover CANADA GOOSE, both BLACK and TURKEY VULTURE,
COOPER'S HAWK (hunting), NORTHERN FLICKER (digging up our
lawn), EASTERN PHOEBE, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH (still hanging
on!), CHIPPING SPARROW (bright plumage), BROWN-HEADED
COWBIRD, and RED-WINGED BLACKBIRD. Overall 30 species---not
bad for the end of March!
