Jay Sheppard visited the Little Patuxent Oxbow Lake Nature Preserve this
afternoon and called to report four species of swallows:
Bank
Barn
Northern Rough-winged
Tree
Also:
Greater Yellowlegs
Lesser Yellowlegs
Kildeer
Wilson's Snipe (~100)
And still presiding over the lake: Trumpeter Swan #960
It seems that Spring Break brought ne'er-do-wells out in force. Someone built
a fire in a stump on the Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks upland that
surrounds the lake and burned a large swath. Thank goodness it stopped at
the trail and didn't proceed up the hillside to the condominiums.
