I spent one hour at Hughes Hollow Thursday, noon-1 pm during which time I saw most of the birds listed by Max and also:

2 mallards
15 blue-winged teal
3 green-winged teal
5 snipe
1 red-headed woodpecker (foy)
1 pileated woodpecker
4 n. rough-winged swallows (foy)
1 rusty blackbird (foy)
4 n. flickers
2 e. phoebes (foy)
1 golden-crowned kinglet (foy)
1 cooper's hawk
1 fox sparrow
1 y-r warbler

A very productive hour! (haven't been near a computer since then, hence the delayed report).

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Hughes Hollow - Phoebe & Barn Swallow

I made a quick trip to Hughes Hollow this morning. They were spreading lime
on the cornfields with large machinery while we were there, with the
spreader traversing the main levee twice, so birding was less than optimal.
I still managed to get my FOY EASTERN PHOEBE and BARN SWALLOW.

Location: Hughes Hollow
Observation date: 3/29/08
Notes: They were spreading lime on the cornfields with large machinery
while we were there, with the spreader traversing the main levee twice to
refill from hopper truck. Noise and distraction hindered observation.

flyovers.
Ring-necked Duck 26 Small group on far side of west impoundment.

Barn Swallow 1 FOY. Good look - flew directly overhead.

Eastern Bluebird 2 Looks like the pair may be preparing to nest in
short snag overhanging the wooded west impoundment from the middle levee.
