Tom Fields' posts on Rusty Blackbirds at Carderock Recreation Area in
Montgomery County from a few days ago reminded me that I had entirely
forgotten to post 7 Rusty Blackbirds (4 males, 3 females) that were
searching for food on the pavement at the entrance to the main
parking lot of Carderock when Joy Bowen and I were there about 1 p.m.
on Sunday, March 30.
Since the location looks to be almost identical, I would bet that
Tom's Rusties are the same ones that we saw last Sunday. I have
birded Carderock for years and never before seen Rusty Blackbirds there.
Tom was going rock climbing; we are past that stage of life!
Apologies for not posting this sighting earlier. (We saw absolutely
nothing else of note at Carderock on Sunday afternoon, beyond these
Rusty Blackbirds, which we did post to eBird.)
