I have to admit to feeling great envy for all the reported sightings of Purple Finch in last couple of weeks.  Then this afternoon five showed up at the feeders in my small back yard -- at last!  I've also had a nice flock of Chipping Sparrows all week with the lingering White-throated Sparrows and Dark-eyed Juncos.
