This afternoon, 5 breeding-plumage common loons were in the middle of the
river just off the mouth of Seneca Creek at Riley's Lock. Upriver, just
past MP24, were 2 adult red-headed woodpeckers. In between, we found 4
warbler species: parula, yellow-throated, palm, and a zillion butter butts.
No sign of a prothonotary. Several hermit thrushes along the canal.
Remarkably birdy for a chilly mid-afternoon!
