Somewhat more reasonable weather expected so we went over to KAG for a few hours this morning, arriving around 7:15 am. The tide was low but starting to come in, rousting about 25 Wilson's Snipe from the flats -- they proceeded to fly around high for some minutes before taking off south to parts unknown. A few waterfowl and Great Egrets but no hoped-for Bittern. A walk down River Trail yielded about 35 Rusty Blackbirds creaking in one of the wooded ponds, a large mixed feeding flock of migrants, mostly Myrtle Warblers, as well as "the usual suspects."

Birds of interest included:

Double-crested Cormorant -3
Great Egret - 2
Black Duck - 8
Blue-winged Teal - 1 (flying with Black Ducks)
Wood Duck -3
Caspian Tern - 1
Greater Yellowlegs -- 3
Wilson's Snipe - 25
Osprey - 1
Red-shouldered Hawk - 1
Sharp-shinned Hawk - 1
Belted Kingfisher - 2
Barn Swallow - 2-3
Tree Swallow - 6
Rough-winged Swallow - 15
Brown Creeper - 3
Golden-crowned Kinglet - 5
Ruby-crowned Kinglet -4 (singing)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 4
Myrtle (Yellow-rumped) Warbler -- 35
Pine Warbler -- 3
Palm Warbler (yellow) - 1
Cedar Waxwing -- 30
Eastern Towhee - 4
Fox Sparrow - 3
Chipping Sparrow -2 (plus others heard)
Swamp Sparrow - 6 (some singing)
Rusty Blackbird - 35

plus the usual chickadees, jays, crows, redwings etc.

Oddly, no Phoebes seemed to be around ...

We had wanted to visit Kenilworth Park but the entrance road in was blocked by ongoing roadwork.
