In my off-and-on quest to find field birds in Montgomery County, I took
advantage of a leave day yesterday to bird in the Agricultural History
Farm Park in Montgomery County. In the large field to the left of the
road as you drive in, I found several Vesper Sparrows and two Eastern
Meadowlarks. They were not easy to dig out of this vast expanse of
stubble-covered ground, but I heard their songs and finally located
them. Otherwise at the Ag Hist Farm Park, lots of Brown Thrashers,
several Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Ruby-crowned Kinglets (back from
where-ever they have spent the winter) and a Red-shouldered Hawk.
