I regularly visit Hughes Hollow and for the past 3 months or so, I've been entering data into Ebird. I started using Ebird in 2005 but quickly lost interest because the system ran slowly back then. A recent article in one of the birding journals convinced us to give Ebird another chance and I've been quite impressed.

This is how I add locations to "My Ebird."

  1. Identify the location where you made your observations, using the "Find it on a Map" function.
  2. Select county and state
  3. A bunch of red dots appear on a Google map (satellite view with roads). When you click the dot where Hughes Hollow is, it comes up: "Hughes Hollow - McKee Beshers WMA."
  4. The location is then added to the "My Locations" pull down menu.

Is that the correct site location or "Birding Hotspot" to use the Ebird term? Is that how we should be creating "favorite locations" on My Ebird?
