Had my first singing male Scarlet Tanager of the year here at SERC in Edgewater. You wouldn't think it would be hard to find a bold red and black bird in a green canopy but it's tough!

Both Monday and Tuesday had singing Wood Thrush here though none today. Lots of Yellow-rumped Warblers singing as well as almost ubiquitous Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and Ovenbirds, and Common Yellowthroats in the marshes near Muddy Creek. Heard a singing Red-eyed Vireo too. What will tomorrow bring?!

Today we had our first hummingbird and scarlet tanager. Spring is not here until the tanager starts singing in the yard (and then stays for the summer). A turkey vulture decided to sun himself in a branch just above my feeding area.

Yesterday we had a prothonotary warbler, common yellowthroat and a redheaded woodpecker in the community.
