Hey everyone-

I just got home from my baseball game and as we were driving by saw that the
Yellow Crowned Night Heron has returned to its regular hangout under the
bridge at the Royal Farms on Thornton Rd in Towson. This bird has
frequented the stream (Roland Run) for at least three years now, and I
assume must have a nest nearby, as I have seen juvenile birds there for two
of the last three years. For anyone interested, last year I also observed
breeding Barn Swallows, Green Herons, and others, all near this Royal Farms.
For any photographers who may want to get some shots of this bird, I will
say that (while I have gotten some weird looks standing outside of a Royal
Farms with a big lens) this bird is very tame due to the large amount of
human activity it sees around the Royal Farms, and last year, it and the
Green heron let me approach within 20 feet without showing any signs of
distress.

Good Birding,
