Yes, I thought I saw one chimney swift flying low over my tulip poplar
tree ( 100 ft high) yesterday afternoon. Then this morning at 6:10 AM
I saw a pair of chimney swifts. They were flying low and diving toward
the chimney at the East Silver Spring Elementary School (631 Silver
Spring Ave.) They did not enter the chimney nor did I see any exit the
chimney. The pair flew off and did not return during the 20 min. I was
watching. Last Oct. on a cold morning, I counted over 400 chimney
swifts exit that little chimney. These are the first I have seen since
then.
I am hoping to hear that swifts have begun to nest in the Chimney Swift
Tower some boy scouts built at the Audubon Refuge in Virginia last summer.
