My friend Chris Murray and I spent the afternoon traversing Calvert
County. We intended to visit Flag Ponds Nature Park to hopefully
catch one of those splendid sparrows that Bill reported from his
weekend, but were only lucky enough to bird the entrance area. The
park is closed weekdays until Memorial Day.

DOG TICK 3
Red-eyed Vireo
Northern Parula
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler (Myrtle)
Yellow-throated Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Chipping Sparrow
Field Sparrow
Indigo Bunting

On the way home, we paid a visit to Smoky Road. The highlights:

DEER TICK 7
DOG TICK 4
Lesser Yellowlegs
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
Hairy Woodpecker
White-eyed Vireo
Red-eyed Vireo
Horned Lark
Purple Martin
Tree Swallow
Eastern Bluebird
Wood Thrush
Brown Thrasher
Northern Parula
Ovenbird
Common Yellowthroat
Yellow-breasted Chat
Summer Tanager
Scarlet Tanager
Eastern Towhee
Chipping Sparrow
Field Sparrow
Savannah Sparrow
White-throated Sparrow
White-crowned Sparrow
Indigo Bunting

We never really left the trails for more than a second or two, but the
ticks are out and about these days. BE CAREFUL.

Good Birding,
