Subject: eBird Report - Beltsville Agricultural Research Center, 5/3/08

Location: Beltsville Agricultural Research Center
Observation date: 5/3/08
Notes: A Common Raven was sitting in a tree just after exiting from
southbound Baltimore-Washington Parkway, turning right onto Powder Mill
Road, and passing Springfield Road this morning at about 8:15 a.m. I parked
next to the "no U-turn" sign and it was directly across from me on the south
side of the road. It flew off to the west after I watched for about a minute.
Continuing westerly down Powder Mill Road and across from Building 426, there
is a water tower with the logo ARS. On top of it I sighted two Common
Ravens. These might be the same two reported by Sam Droege on 27 April
2008. On a map, it looks like the water tower is due east about 1/2 mile from
Sam's office (Bldg 308). The water tower is also about 1/2 mile to the
northwest from the tree where it was sitting.

Number of species: 1
Common Raven (Northern) 2
