The Baltimore Bird Club walk at Soldiers Delight NEA was fantastic. In the
company of six delightful birders, we tallied 68 species that included 15
warblers, 4 flycatcher, 3 vireo and both tanager species. We were fortunate
enough to find nest cavities for Pileated and Hairy Woodpeckers. The
Pileated nest had downy feather on the bottom of the entry way and we could
hear the Hairy Woodpecker young in their hole. A Hooded Warbler was found
along the Red Trail near the large mine. Although it was singing and seemed
to be moving around this site, we did get to it.
