Hi all,
Chris Starling and I spent half the day combing Harford Co. for migrants and
whatever else we could find. We started by meeting on the side of the road
in Perryville (our oly Cecil stop) at 5am, where we were immediately greeted
by the WHIP-POOR-WILLS, and the dawn chorus.
On to Swan Harbor Farms- There were three MARSH WRENS, six SORA and three
VIRGINA RAILS in the impoundment, along with a nice assortment of
shorebirds, and two LITTLE BLUE HERONS. Plenty of warblers peppered the
woods to include: N.PARULAs, OVENBIRDS, BLACK-THROATED GREEN, COMMON
YELLOWTHROAT, BLACKPOLL, YELLOW, BLACK-THROATED BLUE, PRAIRIE, and AMERICAN
REDSTART.
There was a bit of a fallout of Blue Jays at Susquehanna SP, I tallied 161
for the day, and I'm sure I missed a few. Chris spotted a male ROSE-BREASTED
GROSBEAK in the company of two ORCHARD ORIOLES. Also seen- VEERY,
WHITE-EYED, RED-EYED, YELLOW-THROATED and WARBLING VIREOS. Additional
warbler seen in the state park include BLACK-AND-WHITE, WORM-EATING,
BLUE-WINGED, MAGNOLIA and a beautiful CERULEAN.
I may have forgotten a couple, but those are definitely highlights from a
good day with good company. Lengthy eBird lists are below (we had 100+
species before 9am), and a few pictures have been updated here:
