Hi all --

Quite a migration of birders into Rock Creek today, including a couple of groups, and I know that the bird numbers reported below do not reflect everyone's sightings -- but more or less the ones seen by the group Barry and I were hanging with most of the time. Any "addenda" would be appreciated, I already have Clive's sightings posted earlier.

We saw or heard quite a few warblers and a good number of other migrants. Thrushes still not around in any number, also cuckoos are thin on the ground.

Areas visited for us included the ridge (picnic areas 17/18/19), the equitation field, Maintenance Yard, and stable area. We missed the dog run, had to get home so not sure what else might have been seen.

Warblers (18 species):

Black-and-White- 3
Black-throated Blue - 3
Black-throated Green - 3
Blackburnian - 2 or 3, heard-only by us
Baybreast - 1-2
Blackpoll - 5 (2 actually seen!)
Canada - 3
Chestnut-sided - 9 (6 were in the Yard)
Hooded - 1 heard in woods below Equitation Field
Magnolia - 6
Nashville - 2
Ovenbird - 5-6
Parula - 4
Prairie -- 1 (seen by others, we missed it by seconds)
Redstart - 3
Yellow - 1
Yellowthroat - 4
Yellow-rumped - ~25-35 (still here!)

I also thought I heard a Cape May but it only sang the one time...

Other migants:

Yellow-billed Cuckoo - 2, heard only
Great Crested Flycatcher - 4
Acadian Flycatcher - 3
Wood-pewee - 3
Red-eyed Vireo - ~20
Warbling Vireo - 1 (probable, distantly seen)
Scarlet Tanager - 6
Rose-breasted Grosbeak - 2
White-throated Sparrow - 6
Swainson's Thrush - 2
Baltimore Oriole - 6 (some are breeding locally)
Bobolink - flyover flock of about 10

Good birding!
