Subject: eBird Report - Oxbow Lake , 5/16/08

Location: Oxbow Lake
Observation date: 5/16/08
Notes: The recent torrential rains, cresting of the Little Patuxent River,
and backwash into Oxbow Lake have all combined to damage the beaver dam
that maintained the water level in the lake. Lucky for shorebirds, there are
now amazing mud flats available. Jay Sheppard reported approximately 25
Solitary Sandpipers, which is one of the largest numbers of them he has seen
at one time. There are large numbers of shorebirds available for viewing! Bring
your scope if you have one.

Osprey
Semipalmated Plover
Spotted Sandpiper
Solitary Sandpiper
Greater Yellowlegs
Lesser Yellowlegs
Least Sandpiper
Tree Swallow
Northern Rough-winged Swallow
Bank Swallow
Barn Swallow
