We just had a beautiful white crowned sparrow check out our feeder area.  It was a very handsome bird, very crisply marked, the head was particularly sharp, of course I am comparing to photos, having never seen one in real life before now,  maybe they always look like that this time of year.  We were excited to add another bird to our yard list.

We are having a lot more new birds this spring, or more likely, we are just better at it this spring, e.g. "the giant sparrow" from last year is a female rose-breasted grosbeak, she has returned - we are hoping the males will return at some point - they or one of them anyway, came everyday for a about a week.
