May 19 around mid-day I saw one Gray-cheeked Thrush along an unpaved
road that branches off from the Gwynns Falls bike path in Baltimore City's
Carroll Park. This trail intersection is about 2/3 of the way from the parking lot
on Washington Boulevard to the first bridge and the thrush was about 100
feet up the dirt road from the fork. While I was watching the thrush, a White-
crowned Sparrow flew out of the brush and landed on the road nearby. To add
a touch of color, a male Indigo Bunting also appeared in the path a little
farther away. There were also some warblers: two American Redstarts, a
Magnolia, Yellow, Black and White, a Northern Waterthrush, and several
Common Yellowthroats. I also got to see two newly fledged bluebirds being
fed by the female bluebird and briefly glimpsed another thrush but couldn’t
identify it.
