a happy outcome, but please let this be a reminder to always let your loved ones (or neighbors, if they're close friends) know where you are if you're gone for extended periods of time. In the field, while you watch the birds, keep an eye on your fellow birders. If you see a crime in progress, please CALL the POLICE FIRST, and carefully evaluate the situation before deciding to intervene since you could be endangering your own life as well.
