 Hi all --

Wallace has reported almost everything already but there are a few addenda -- one of which was a COMMON NIGHTHAWK which Barry and I flushed from the leaf litter at the side of the Equitation Field (where we went first thing this morning) -- it flew around and then perched on a bare tree limb. Jim Lemert arrived in time to see it -- very nice look!

A few other birds of interest:

Eastern Phoebe - 2
Wood-pewee - 8+
Empid sp. - 1, silent, looked like the "Traill's" of yesterday
Eastern Kingbird - 1

Also, in total we saw/heard at least 12 Blackpolls -- always a bit sorry to have so many in as it indicates that warbler migration is starting to wane.

Also several of us enjoyed long looks at an immature Cooper's Hawk in the woods behind the Nature Center, attracting a lot of mobbing chickadees and other birds as it sat first on one branch and then another. It obviously had its eye on something (a nest?) but eventually flew off in a flurry of angry little birds.

Cheers,
Gail Mackiernan and Barry Cooper
Colesville, MD
