Mourning & Wilson's Warblers, Lincoln's Sparrow in Columbia

There were a number of good birds this morning (May 24) near our home in 
east Columbia. All were seen in the stretch of pathway between the end of 
Brush Run and Forebay Pond. First was a Lincoln’s Sparrow that showed itself 
briefly around 7:30 AM. A male Mourning Warbler sang, called and finally came 
out into the sunshine briefly, as did a male Wilson’s Warbler. Other warblers 
seen or heard were about a dozen Blackpolls, a Yellow-rumped, a female 
Canada, and a Redstart. A male Scarlet Tanager and male Indigo Bunting 
provided some bright colors. A Swainson’s Thrush skulked along the forest 
floor and a newly fledged Tufted Titmouse was being fed by its parents. Other 
birds observed were both Red-eyed and White-eyed Vireos, Great-crested 
Flycatcher, Eastern Wood Pewee, and Baltimore Oriole. There were still two 
White-throated Sparrows in the area. Forebay Pond held a Great Egret, a 
Least Sandpiper and two Spotted Sandpipers.
