Okay, MDOSPREY is not alone.hundreds and hundreds of Comcast customers have
been deleted from Listserv lists over the past few days. Just as a
heads-up, the same thing is about to happen with customers of MSN and
Hotmail-we now have 33 subscribers to one or the other of these two services
who are having mail turned back with the following message:

"Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons for
rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or
IP/domain reputation problems. If you are not an email/network admin please
contact your E-mail/Internet Service Provider for help."

Here is the story on the Cox/Comcast problem: they have hired an outside
company, by the name of Senderscore, to provide spam protection services.
This company uses overly aggressive spam blocking criteria because a company
being blocked by them can buy their way off of the Senderscore block list.
In fact, several well-known spamming companies have already paid Senderscore
to allow their junk mail to pass through. If you Comcast customers are
seeing an upsurge in junk mail, now you know why. To see the fees this
company charges to unblock a domain name, go here:

If Comcast customer service says the problem is L-Soft's (my LISTSERV
service provider) then they are lying. The particular agent you speak with
may not know this but the people who tell the reps what to say certainly
know they are lying.

Some of L-Soft's listowners are saying L-Soft should go ahead and pay off
this Senderscore company. I disagree. In my opinion this is akin to
dealing with terrorists by meeting their demands-a totally unacceptable
solution. What will work is if people continue to complain often and loudly
to Comcast and, ultimately, go to another service provider. After all, who
knows what other e-mail you are missing because of the misguided policies of
Comcast and Senderscore?

I will try to keep everyone updated on what's going on with this issue but
be prepared for it to happen again, especially if you use Comcast, MSN, or
Hotmail as your service provider.

Best,
