Song Sparrow song

 

For the past 2 or 3 weeks I have heard a Song Sparrow singing an alternate song that I don't recall hearing previously.  It consists of a series of slurred whistles, decreasing in pitch and increasing in tempo.  It usually ends with a typical Song Sparrow ending high-pitched squeak.  The rhythm is similar to a Field Sparrow song, but the pitch is lower and the notes are more slurred.  The bird will sing this song for 3 to 5 minutes then revert to a typical Song Sparrow song.
