I saw the White Pelican from Fort McHenry this morning about 10 AM. It 
was swimming somewhere between a fairly close large red buoy with a 
number "2" on it and the far shore where two large ships were docked.

After watching it for 5 minutes or so I decided to call Keith Costley 
in case there were no other postings this morning. Keith, however, was 
not in range of a computer. Unfortunately, while I was fiddling with 
the infernal cell phone, the pelican slipped away unseen. I scanned 
the far shore and waters for 45 minutes or so with no luck. It could 
have gone behind one of the large ships. There was already a fair 
amount of recreational boating underway, which wouldn't help.
