Of course, just as I was about to get in position to photograph the Cuckoo,
an experience which I had been looking forward to for a while, seemingly all
the sticks and leaves in the park congregated under my foot, and the noise
of my stepping on them was enough to spook the Cuckoo. Otherwise, it was a
nice walk, although our list would have been much larger had we come at a
different time of day. Also, I didn't know where exactly to look for the
Summer Tanager, so its absence on my list does not by any means mean that it
was not at the park.

Anyway, this morning, my dad and I decided to go after the Little Egret at
Bombay Hook, but the bird was not seen all morning, and we left
empty-handed. On the way back to Baltimore, we stopped at Elk Neck State
Forest to see if we could get a few interesting breeders. Again, it was a
very bad time of day (about 2:00 pm), so we only stopped for about 20
minutes. The list for Elk Neck is as follows:

Location: Elk Neck State Forest
Observation date: 6/14/08
Number of species: 11

Osprey 1
Ruby-throated Hummingbird 1
Red-bellied Woodpecker 1
Eastern Wood-Pewee 2
Acadian Flycatcher 1
American Crow 2
Pine Warbler 1
Black-and-white Warbler 1
Worm-eating Warbler 1
Ovenbird 3
Hooded Warbler 1

A couple of pictures from Bombay Hook are posted on the site, including one
of maybe the most obliging Common Yellowthroat I have seen to date. Enjoy!
