While grilling out on my deck early yesterday evening, I observed
several robins in hot pursuit of another bird. The pursued bird landed
on the roof next door, along with the squawking pursuers. It had a
small bird clasped in its talons. The diminutive size & contrasting
rich russet and blue-gray plumage easily distinguished the predator as
an American Kestrel, a surprise visitor to my suburban neighborhood.
Also new to my yard this past week was an Indigo Bunting.
