Hi everyone,
I am a birder, a subscriber to MDOSPREY, and an NIH employee at the NIH Animal Center. I have asked the head groundskeeper to suspend mowing operations for now, and he has agreed to do this. He has done a great job with putting up bird houses suitable for several species at the farm (which I now have volunteered to maintain since the regular groundskeeping staff has been downsized due to budget cuts), and I am sure he will be helpful with this. He would like to know what meadows the bird has been spotted in. I know that it is difficult to judge from Club Hollow Rd., but I will try to walk around tomorrow morning to see if I can hear/see it.
I would also like to report that I heard, and briefly saw, a Grasshopper Sparrow on the farm, not far from the guard booth at the entrance. So birders can keep their eyes open and ears tuned for this species, as well.
