Hello all.
I've been surveying the Brandon Woods-Chestnut Hill Cove-Stoney Creek Park-
Solley Road area of Pasadena for the last couple of days looking for breeding
birds and butterflies. It's about a 4 mile route. I forget how much 'fun' this
time of year can be until I'm tracking a warbler in foliage while being bled out
by mosquitoes and deer flies.
Some interesting birds continue in this area, even though portions have been
disturbed over the years. The best chunk of land in this mix is Stoney Creek
Park, which is a large parcel of undeveloped park land just off of Solley Road
and Nabbs Creek Road. The site contains good FIDS habitat and has some
flooded areas that remind me of parts of the Jones Falls leading to Lake
Roland. The other locations are more mixed in habitat.
