You know how that "Red-shouldered Hawk" you hear screaming usually turns out
to be a Blue Jay instead? And how that "raven" calling is of course merely
an American Crow giving one of its hoarser cries?
I've been hearing raven-like noises in the vicinity for some weeks now, and
telling myself the source of the sounds is obviously just a crow. Well,
maybe it is. But this afternoon, I observed two crows fly by in a big
hurry -- chasing a raven.
Presumably it's one of the Cabin John birds; I live less than five miles
from there as the corvid flies.
