Folks

As with mushrooms, there are old mushroom hunters, and there are bold 
mushroom hunters, but there are no old, bold mushroom hunters.  The same may 
go for Indian Pipes.

If it just sprouted recently, it's probably Indian Pipes. Take a look at 
this web site and see if this is the culprit:

I noticed a bunch of them had just come up in our yard since Saturday. They 
typically emerge in early July after rains.
