Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from June 24 and July 7, 2008

This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot
County, who continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul
Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island.
These sightings include the birds seen on June 24 and July 7,
2008. Some of the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from
Tilghman Island and back.

Note the rather late presence of several shorebird species, large
numbers of Mallards, and slightly unusual presence of Forster's Tern, Black
Skimmer. American Oystercatcher and Seaside Sparrow. Nesting behavior of
Black-necked Stilts was also nice to see.
Weather: 6/24 Clear am, partly cloudy pm; 7/7 partly cloudy am & pm.
Temp range 72-89 on 6/24, and 75-88 degrees F on 7/7.
