Hanover, MD that is; not the potato chip capital. This adult in breeding plumage was working the weedy sidewalk along High Tech Rd. near Hanover Rd. on the HoCo side of Deep Run. After flushing him by accident, he stood on top of a fresh pile of top soil to get a better view of the intruder.

In a sycamore grove not far from here, Don Mattson and I have watched the nesting activities of warbling vireos, Baltimore and Orchard orioles, Indigo buntings, GC flycatchers, house wrens, bluebirds and several woodpecker species, all this on lunch breaks. We have concluded that it is a good shady spot to eat lunch and hang out. This is along the former driveway between a remediation cattail pond and Deep Run, accessed from Hanover Rd. Everyone says it is now state property but it is not marked as such.
