The 3 year old, 6' high holly planted next to the house hosted a Robin nest
in April. Due to cold weather, the eggs didn't hatch & eventually disappeared
from the nest.

During May she used the nest again and successfully fledged three speckled
young.

This morning, three male Robins drew our attention to the tree with a loud
ruckus of twittering and sharp peeks. They were simultaneously attacking the
nest.

During the three or four minutes it took us to decide to look, the third
nesting of 5 eggs had been eaten by a black snake. Actually, he still had half an
egg left - - - so we just let him have at it.

To quote a character from the old sitcom, "Taxi": Life is hard and then you
die.
