Yesterday morning (july 26, 2008), while sitting on my bucket overlooking Jug Bay, I clearly heard a Black-billed Cuckoo sing twice. Seems like every 4 or 5 years there are a bunch of them around in late July; early migrants I guess.
This morning (july 27, 2008) I watched an immature White Ibis for about a minute as it circled, flew away from me (west), then turned north up the Patuxent River. Mostly I saw the distinctive white rump extending up into the back, but as it turned I finally got to see the long decurved bill. My second sighting from my bucket. For the record-keepers, it would probably qualify for both AA and PG counties, but I would have to say it was over AA more.
